Kyle Mitchell Odom

Kyle Mitchell Odom, age 38, of Ridge Road, Blairsville, Georgia, passed away on March 29, 2022 at his home after a lengthy illness.  Kyle was born on October 29, 1983 to his parents Tim Odom and Debbie Scroggs.  Kyle was a member of New Union Baptist Church.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but especially by his family: father and stepmother, Tim and Cindy Odom; mother and stepfather, Debbie and Duke Scroggs; sister and brother-in-law, Krista and Chris Fox; and his precious nephews, Sawyer David, Mason Kyle, and Holden Charles Fox.  Also surviving Kyle are his step-brothers, Sean Byers and CJ Byers and step-sister, Alyssa Byers, and aunts and uncles: Kathy Odom, Steve and Linda Foster, Dianna Foster and many cousins and friends that he treated like family.  Kyle was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, JC and Fleeta Odom; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Nita Mae Foster; and three uncles: Mitchell Foster, Bob Odom and Stanley Odom.

Kyle's love for baseball started at a very young age, even prior to his injury on August 16, 1993.  His favorite team was the Atlanta Braves and he cherished spending time with family and friends at every game.  These moments gave him the greatest joy and these memories will be cherished by all who shared them with him.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Thursday, April 7th, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., to be held in Union County Performing Arts Center. Jesse Jorgensen, David Gowder, and Pastor Mark Alexander will officiate.  Gentlemen asked to serve as pallbearers are: Curtis Mason, Justin Gwynn, Eli Gwynn, David Foster, Justin Owenby, Adam Walker, and Daniel Davenport.  Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers are the past members of Kyle's many softball teams.  Burial will be in New Union Baptist Church Cemetery, with graveside services officiated by Rev. Harrison Bradley.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 6th, 2022, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Union County Family Connections, where Kyle served many years as a mentor for a number of students in the school system, who, like he, lived their lives in a wheelchair, and showing them that life could still be lived to the fullest, even when sitting down.
