Kimberly Rene Wackenhut

Kimberly Rene Wackenhut, age 52, of Marble, NC, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Memorial Mission Hospital, in Asheville, NC. Kimberly was born on January 25, 1972.

She was a graduate of Andrews High School and attended Tri-County Community College, earning a degree in early childhood development.  She touched many lives throughout her career of 27 years and most recently at Kids Corner Day Care Center in Peachtree.  She loved her family deeply and considered it her greatest joy in life raising her two sons and the adventures they experienced together.

She is survived by her mother, Carma Cochran Brooks, and step-father Ronnie Brooks;  father, Leroy Payne; sons, Austin Wackenhut and Adam Wiggins; brothers, Aaron Wackenhut of Asheville, North Carolina and Jonathan Wackenhut of Saline, Michigan; and sister, Amanda Wackenhut of Saline, Michigan.  Several family and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her niece, Willow Wackenhut.

A Celebration of life will be held at the Tattered Tartan Pub, in Andrews NC, on August 31st, 2024, starting at 6 pm, for friends and family. A potluck Meal will be served, and family and friends of all ages are welcome.
