Kermit Stiles, 78, son of the late Charlie and Ethel Mashburn Stiles, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Crawford-Long Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Kermit proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy Seebees during the Korean War.
He obtained his law degree from Woodrow Wilson College of Law, and represented the workers of United Auto Workers as Local 34 chairman in Atlanta for more than 30 years. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Kermit was married for 53 years, and is survived by his devoted wife, Ann Kilpatrick Stiles of Peachtree, son, Darryl Stiles and wife, Lisa of Gainesville, GA., and their two children, Abigail and Garrett Stiles, son, Derek Stiles and wife, Tammy of Canton, brother, Bob Stiles and wife, Doris of Canton, sister, Helen Stiles Jarrett and husband, David of Murphy. Kermit was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-9pm Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 at Cochran Funeral Home in Murphy.
Funeral service will be held at 2pm. Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 in the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Murphy with Rev. Chester Jones officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Garden.
Pallbearers are: Chuck Mallonee, Doug Jarrett, Darryl Stiles, Derek Stiles, Mark Stiles and Robert Braham.
Honorary Pallbearers include Kenny Stiles, Kandy Barnett, Wayne Shumake, John Gibney and Garrett Stiles.
