Kenneth Dale Compton, age 75, a resident of Blairsville for five years, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Union General Hospital. Ken was born December 29, 1946 in
Tenso, Virginia to the late Walter Compton and the late Sally Counts.
He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Vietnam Service Medal.
A member of Crescent Beach Baptist Church, he also attended Blairsville First Baptist Church. He was a reputable drywall contractor and owned his own business, Compton Drywall, for 60 years. He enjoyed woodworking, riding his motorcycle with his wife and friends, and feeding his local deer. In addition, he enjoyed taking trips and spending quality time with his family and close friends. He was a very proud grandfather and truly loved his family.
He was preceded in death by mother, Sally Counts Compton, father, Walter Compton, siblings, Paul Raymond Compton and Dave Compton.
Survivors include: wife, Carol Compton, daughters, Michelle (Eric) Niemi, Jamie Marie Compton, Tara Lauren Compton, siblings, Carole Robinson, Walter Compton, Jr., William "Bill" Compton, grandchildren, Nicolas Niemi, Max Niemi, Elice Molgren, Orion Evers, Sully Rhoden, Isley Rhoden, Harley Rhoden, Kayden Bunker.
Graveside services: Tuesday, March 15th, at 2:00 pm at Union Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First Baptist Church of Blairsville or to one of the many Veterans organizations.
