Kathy Thomas

"Kathy" (Betty Kathleen) Thomas, age 76, of Blue Ridge, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2019, at Pruitt Health Care. Mrs. Thomas was born September 2, 1942, in Unaka, NC to the late Otis Garrett and the late Thelma Graham Garrett. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, reading, cats, and singing in the church choir. She was preceded in death by her father, Otis Garrett, mother, Thelma Garrett, son, Albert Thomas, and husband, Joseph Jack Thomas.

Survivors include: daughter, Melodie Shinpaugh, son, Allen Thomas, son, Michael (Leigh Ann) Thomas, son, Joe (Debra) Thomas, daughter, Patti Thomas, brother, Ernest (Jan) Garrett, brother, Herman (Brenda) Garrett, sister, Ruby (Farris) Collins, sister, Mary Ruth Bartlett, grandchildren, Heather Stanley, Abby Mintz, Teddy Mintz, Jason Thomas, Brian Thomas, Rachel Thomas, Emily Gusic, Ike Thomas, great-grandchildren, Makenna Stanley, Grace Stanley, Maddy Patterson, and Mila Gusic.

Funeral services: Saturday, April 13, 2019, at 1:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Beck officiating. Interment will follow in the New Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Herman Garrett, Ernest Garrett.

The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Friday, April 12, 2019, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
