Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville announces funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Marie Collis German, age 83, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Mrs. German was a native and lifelong resident of Fannin County, Georgia, and a daughter of the late Monroe M. Collis and Clara Belle Lewis Collis. She was the owner of Kay's Florist in McCaysville, and a member of First Baptist Church of McCaysville. Preceding her in death was her husband, Lester L. German; three sisters: Connie Crain, Winnie Vinez, and Rae Cheathem; three brothers: Steve Johnson, Cecil Collis, and Harold Collis.
Surviving family members include a son, Donald L. German, of Murphy, North Carolina; a brother, Kenneth J. Collis, of Cheyenne, Wyoming; two grandchildren: Jeremy Donald German and his wife, Erica; and Amanda Gail Lackey and her husband, Eric; one great granddaughter, Ava Erica Lackey; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at 1:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Finch-Cochran Funeral Home in McCaysville, with Dr. Fred Lodge officiating. Burial will be in Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, at 12 noon; for one hour prior to the service starting.
