Junior Duckworth

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Sherman Duckworth, Jr., (better known as Junior) age 76, of Blairsville, who passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014 at his home in Blairsville.

Mr. Duckworth was born in Blairsville, on October 27, 1937, a son of the late Sherman Duckworth and the late Fannie Young Duckworth. He worked at the Georgia Experiment Station in Blairsville for 40 years. Besides his parents, he had been preceded in death by a brother, Billy Duckworth, and a sister, Myrtle Ann Blalock.

He is survived by his loving family members: wife Faye, of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Renee Duckworth; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Linda Duckworth; three grandchildren: Kayla, Korey and Kalvin Duckworth.

Funeral services for Mr. Duckworth have been scheduled for Monday, January 27, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Ricky Rich, Oscar Thomas, Scotty Jarrard, Chuck McClester, J.L. Tanner, Ricky Tanner, and Harold Murphy. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Cochran Funeral Home, between the hours of 6:00 p.m., until 9:00 p.m.

Flowers are being accepted; however, if you wish to do so, memorial contributions may be made to Harmony Grove Baptist Church - designated for the Building Fund.
