Junior Barnett Denton

Mr. Junior Barnett Denton, age 85 of Hiawassee, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home. Mr. Denton was born February 3, 1929 in Hiawasee, GA to the late Barnett Denton and the late Esther Parton Denton. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and was a lifelong resident of Towns County. Junior was a hard worker. He became a man at an early age, working to help support his family. Junior worked in the timber industry for many years. Later he worked for Arbor Acres in the poultry industry until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in these beautiful mountains that he called home, but, the real love of his life was his family. Junior was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Burrell Denton and a brother, Cleveland Denton.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and William Bradshaw of Hiawassee, grandson and his wife, Ricky and Becky Bradshaw of Hiawassee, granddaughter and her husband, Teresa and Bryan Addis of Mt. Airy, GA and, grandson and his wife, Robert andNicole Bradshaw of Hiawassee. Two sisters and five great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with the Rev. Shannon Burrell officiating. Music will be provided by Rita Bradshaw and Nola Jean Nicholson. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Robert Bradshaw, Bryan Addis, B.J. Addis, Ronnie Ledford, Dylan Burrell, and Devyn Burrell. Honorary pallbearer: Nathan Addis.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee, Wednesday, July 16, 2014 12:00 noon - 1:00 pm.
