June Akin

With the grace of God, June Akin, 89 died peacefully on July 31,2010. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Louis Akin and her parents Charles and Ada Plemmons and younger sister Bettye Reed. June is survived by her daughter Lorraine Buhrmann (Gil) of Lake Mary, FL and Dana Vereen (Stacy) and also four grandsons, Jason, Matt, Judson and Stefan Vereen and great granddaughter, Kayla of the Atlanta area. She is also survived by her sister Clara Crawford of Ft. Lauderdale,FL and her brother-in-law Sam Reed of Harriman, TN. June has many nieces, nephews, and cousins who have fond memories of her. June was a member of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville and gave many years of serivce to the church. In retirement June and Louis became Square Dancers and enjoyed their friends and trips all over the United States and Europe. The family wants to thank the entire staff at Life Care for their support and care of June during the last four years. Also special thanks to Brenda Holliman who was a friend and caregiver for June. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 867,McCaysville, GA 30555 or the Alzheimer?s Association, 1925 Century Blvd NE, Suite 10, Atlanta, GA 30345. The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 3 to 4 PM followed by the service at 4:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in McCaysville, GA.
