Mr. Julian L. Brown, age 85, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010, in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Mr. Brown was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday, January 2, 1925, a son of the late Julian Eugene Brown and the late Delree Locke Brown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and achieved the rank of Corporal, and served during World War II. Julian had been living in Blairsville since 2002, moving here from Ellijay, Georgia. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville, and a member of Allegheny Masonic Lodge. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Louise Trudelle.

Surviving family members include his wife, O'Nell Todd Brown; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Greg Parkinson, of Traverse City, Michigan; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Connie Brown, of Resaca, Georgia; step-son and his wife, Bruce and Vicki Holliday, of Acworth, Georgia; step-son, Carl L. Holliday, of Flowery Branch, Georgia; and step-son and his wife, Jeffrey and Lesa Holliday, of Rossville, Georgia; "Adopted" son and his wife, Dr. Jack and Joan Pennington, of Blairsville; "Adopted" son and his wife, Mel & Susannah White; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elsie and Cecil Daniels, of Macon, Georgia, and Thelma and Bob Sudderth, of Woodstock, Georgia; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Giesla Todd of Madison, Indiana; sister-in-law, Claudia Todd of Blairsville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Becky Currie, of Ellijay, Georgia; 4 grandchildren and 7 step-grandchildren; and 4 step-great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 15, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Blairsville, with Dr. Fred Lodge and Rev. Roy Bateman officiating. The body was instate at the church beginning at 10 a.m. on the day of the service. Special music was provided by Minister R. Terry Hooper. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Bruce T. Holliday, Carl L. Holliday, Jeff Holliday, Dr. Jack Pennington, Blake Brown, and Mel White. Graveside services were held in Yukon Cemetery in Ellijay, Georgia, with Rev. Jennings Neeld officiating. North Georgia Honor Guard presented Military Honors. Visitation at the funeral home was held on Thursday, October 14, 2010, after 6 p.m., with the family especially meeting with friends from 6 until 8 p.m.

DIRECTIONS TO CEMETERY: From Blairsville, head south on 515 towards Ellijay for approximately 38 miles.
Turn left at Maddox Drive.
Maddox Drive quickly becomes Yukon Rd. Continue on Yukon road for 3.7 miles.
Take slight left at Clear Creek Road. In .2 miles take first left on John Call Road.
Cemetary will be on the right. (There are actually two cemetaries and ours will be the second one)
