Joyce Wilson Collins

Joyce Wilson Collins, age 89, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away on Friday, April 18,2 014 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.

Joyce was born in Blairsville on October 31, 1924, a daughter of the late Abraham Lincoln Wilson and the late Mary Eliza Reece Wilson. Mrs. Collins was originally from Union County, but lived most of her life in Hall County, where she was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. As a young girl, she attended Northeast Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville, GA. Joyce was well-known for her beautiful flowers and the help she gave unselfishly to friends and neighbors. She was employed for thirty years with Leece Neville in Gainesville. .Joyce was preceded in death by sisters, Esto Wilson McElroy and Carol Wilson Nix; as well as brothers, James, Mickey, and Bill Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Mary Nell Collins Brown, and a son-in-law, John Sutton.

Survivors include daughters Peggy (Ed) Holland; Cathy Sutton, and Lynne (Stuart) Jones, as well as five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Also surviving are sister Martha Deavers and sister-in-law, Louise Wilson; brothers Tom Wilson and Elbert Wilson.

Funeral services for Joyce have been scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with burial in Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Blairsville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 12 noon, and last until the services begin.
