Joyce Pierson

Joyce Haney Pierson 77, of Douglasville, Georgia, and formerly of Murphy, North Carolina, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, September 16, 2023, in Murphy surrounded by her family.
She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Emma Haney, and the wife of the late James Pierson. 

She was a member of the Lithia Springs Baptist Church but attended Central Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia, where she was active in Sunday School, was class Treasurer, and established Homebound Members and Buddies. Joyce also served on the Social Committee. She volunteered at Garden Terrace Nursing Home and also at Douglas County Sherriff's Office.

She graduated from Hiawassee Dam High School and immediately started her career in banking. She retired as Assistant Vice President from Bank of America in Atlanta Georgia.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her only brother Harry Haney, and a sister Bobbie Haney. She is survived by sisters Doris Grady, Janice Haney, Barbara Haney, Kaye Dyer, and Sharon Thomas. A nephew John W. Dyer, a niece Jennifer Dyer, and a great nephew Zachary Dyer.

A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Greenlawn Memorial Garden in Murphy, North Carolina, with the Rev. Calvin Murphy officiating. Music will be provided by Stan Thomas and Rev. Joe Long.

In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to a local church cemetery fund.
