Joyce Faye Nix (Gann), age 90, died Tuesday, May 12, 2020. She was born on October 29, 1929, in Ensley, Alabama. In 1949, she married Rufus Nix, Jr. of Homewood, Alabama. Joyce worked as a secretary for the Dean of Students for Samford University in the mid-60s before spending 18 years with First Bank of Alabama. After moving to Pell City, she became the Executive Director for the Pell City Chamber of Commerce. Joyce enjoyed NASCAR, flower arranging, and hosting family at the lake. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Nix Jr. of Morganton, GA; her sister, Dorothy Morton of Lincoln, AL; and her daughter, Rebecca Nix Cannon of Marietta, GA and her husband, Harold. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Hauenstein of Bessemer, AL and her husband, Rudy; her son, David M. Nix of Morganton, GA and his wife, Connie; her granddaughter, Leah Lang of Marietta, GA and her husband, Steven; her grandsons Geoff Cannon of Brunswick, GA and his wife, Jessica; Matthew Nix of St. Petersburg, FL, and Michael Nix of Morganton, GA, and 6 great-grandchildren. She lived a rich life full of love and family. A viewing will be held at Johns-Ridout's Funeral Home on Saturday, May 16, from 1-2 pm with a graveside service to follow.
