Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mrs. Joyce England Johns, age 81, of Conley, Georgia, who passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017 in Concord, Georgia.
Mrs. Johns was born in Athens, Georgia, a daughter of the late Robert Baxter England and the late Alma Elkins England. Joyce spent her childhood in Blairsville, and went to college at Young Harris College. She lived in Marietta, Georgia, where she taught elementary school in Clayton County. Later, Joyce and Ralph resided in Conley, Georgia. Mrs. Johns loved to cook, and her family will cherish memories around her table enjoying holiday meals. Joyce and Ralph kept a garden, and Joyce especially loved sunflowers! Her husband of 60 years, Ralph, passed away in January of this year; besides her parents, she also had been preceded in death by a sister, JoAnne Weber, and a brother, Robert B. England.
She will be warmly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: Steve and his wife Bobbie; Wendy and her husband Billy; and Terri and her husband Fred; five grandchildren, whom Joyce loved so dearly: Matt, Katie, Abbey, Kelli, and Jackie; and one great granddaughter, Avah.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 3:00 p.m., to be held at Union Memory Gardens Cemetery with Jim Richardson officiating. Special music will be presented by Jeff Torbett. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home starting at 1:00 p.m., and will last until 2:45 p.m., at which time they will leave to go to the cemetery.
