Joyce Brackett

Agnes Joyce Bailey Brackett, age 97 of McCaysville, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Pruitt Health in Blue Ridge, GA. Mrs. Brackett was born May 6, 1920, in McCaysville, GA to the late Thomas Alfred Bailey and the late Delia Brookshire Bailey. She was a lifelong member of the McCaysville Church of Christ. Mrs. Barackett was a graduate of the Copperhill High School. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She dearly loved her family and her church. Her occupations included being a Mother and a Housewife, Clerk for the Tennessee Copper Company, Teller for the First National Bank of Polk County, Supervisor for Western Union, Supervisor and Welfare Counselor for the Tennessee Department of Human Services and a Substitute Teacher for the Copperhill Elementary School.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, EV Brackett, brothers, Edwin, Otis and Clement Bailey, sisters, Leon Bailey Duncan and Geraldine Bailey Goodrum.

Survivors include: daughter, Pamela (Dave) Brackett-Gillespie of Souderton, PA, son, Thomas V. (Jane) Brackett of Blue Ridge, GA, sister, Colleen Bailey Henson of Jacksonville, FL, granddaughters Christina (John) Lindenmeyer and Caroline Cress, grandsons, Andrew (Meghann) Brackett and Benjamin (Annie) Brackett, 6 great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at 3:00 pm at the Church of Christ Cemetery, Blue Ridge, GA. with the Minister Keith Richie officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Tuesday, December 5, 2017, 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm.
