Josie May Gilbert

Josie May Gilbert, age 77 ,of Blue Ridge, passed away January 4, 2015 at Fannin Regional Hospital. Josie was born May 22, 1937 in Copperhill, TN to the late George and late Stella.Cochran Deal. She attended the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Grassy Creek. Josie enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Johnny Ray Gilbert; the father of her children, Herschel Allen, daughter, Sherry Henderson; grandchildren, Angela and Jimbo; two brothers, Hayden and Clyde Deal.

Survivors include:children, Diane (Mitchell) Ross, Carolyn Lowery, Ray (Joann) Allen; grandchildren, James, Greg, Stephanie, Anthony, Crystal, Christey, Billy, Dawn, Sandy, Carmen, Amanda, Gwen, Michael, Michelle, Joey, and Jimmy John, many great grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Deal; sisters, Ruby Ensley, and Irene Barnes, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at 2:00 p.m,. at the Finch-Cochran Chapel with the John Newton and Rev. Bethel Rice officiating. Pallbearers: James, Greg and Anthony Lowery, Adrian Mendoza, Greg Lowery, Jr., Cody Plemmons, Blake Allen, and Timmy Ensley. Honorary pallbearers: Devion Lowery, Scotty Plemmons, Jimmy Lake, Dustin Cooper, Mark Rice, Terry Foreman, and Dave Elsy. Burial will be in the Mt View Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, January 6, 2015, from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
