Josephine Laney Ayers

Mrs. Josephine Laney Ayers, age 94 of Murphy, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Ayers was born March 9, 1923, in Cherokee Co. NC, to the late Scott Laney and Belle Bradshaw Laney. She was a member of Murphy First Baptist she enjoyed reading, gardening both flowers and vegetables. She was preceded in death by, sisters, Bessie Laney and Blanche Ellis, brothers, T.C. Laney, Ralph Laney, Scott Laney, Jr. and Pat Laney husband, Vernon Ayers.

Survivors include: brothers, Buster (Alene) Laney and Virgil Laney, sisters in laws, Dot Laney and Faye Laney, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services: Thursday, March 23, 2017, at 2:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel. With Rev. Mark Laney officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The following nephews will serve as pallbearers Darrell Laney, Steve Laney, Paul Laney, Mike Laney, Larry Ellis and Casey Conley. Honorary pallbearers Danny Chastain, James Chastain and Greg Laney.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home, Thursday, March 23, 2017, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm.
