Josephine Elizabeth Pelfrey

Josephine Elizabeth Pelfrey, age 89, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021, at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.  She was born on May 4, 1932, to the late Grover Thomas and the late Myrtle Hallum Thomas.  Mrs. Pelfrey was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church and was very active in WMU, Bible School, and helping with the bereavement meals for church families.  She enjoyed cooking for her family, reading, puzzles, and quilting.  She especially loved her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.  Her family was her life.  Josephine was preceded in death by her father, Grover Thomas, mother, Myrtle Thomas, husband, Calvin Pelfrey, brothers, Grover Thomas, Jr. and Jim Thomas, sisters Lillian Higdon and Helen Grubbs.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Pelfrey Hogan, and grandchildren, Bryan Hogan and Callie Hogan.

On Friday, December 17, 2021, funeral services will be at 2:00 pm from the Lebanon Baptist Church with Rev. Jo Jo Thomas and Rev. Claude Mathis officiating.  Pallbearers:  Bryan Hogan, Micah Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Mark Thomas, Brian Elder, Brandt Akin, Stephen Akin, Scott Akin, and Richard Rymer.

The family will meet with friends at the Lebanon Baptist Church on Friday, December 17, 2021, from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm.
