Joseph T. Mudy

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces Joseph T.  Mudy, age 70 of Blairsville, passed away January 8, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.  Mr. Mudy was born March 8, 1951 in Hammond, Indiana to John Mudy and Genevieve Mudy.  

Joseph grew up in Indiana and stayed in Hammond throughout his childhood, where in his older years, he met his wife Susan where they still remained in Hammond, IN.

Mudy served in the Military and then moved on to working as a clerks man for the US postal service, which allowed him to stay in Hammond, with the occasional trips to Illinois. However, as time went on, both Susan and Joseph decided to move to Blairsville, Georgia and have been there since 2018, living life in the mountains.

He was a man of great hobbies and interest, one of his favorites was Horse Racing as he competed in the Las Vegas National Handicapping Tournament. He also loved to go to Indy Car Races and was an avid fan.

Survivors include, his wife of 35 years, Susan O. Mudy, brothers, John Mudy, Thomas Mudy, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Genevieve Mudy .

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Deacon Carl Officiating, The family will gather at 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home until the service begins. Internment will be held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia on January 31st, 2022 at 11:30 a.m.
