Joseph "joe" Smith

Joseph "Joe" Smith, age 77, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Lenoir, NC passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010.
Joe was born in Lenoir, NC, a son of the late Thomas L. Smith and Mary (Triplett) Smith. He was a U.S Army Veteran and a member of Coosa United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Blairsville Kiwanis Club and an active volunteer for the meals on wheels program. Joe was an avid golfer and boater. He retired after 32 years of security service from Lockheed-Martin in Orlando, FL. Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Tommie Smith.
Survivors include his loving wife and best friend of 43 years Dee Smith of Blairsville, GA, brother, Eddie Smith of Lenoir, NC, sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ida and Doug Cook of Lenoir, NC, nephew, Beau Cook of Blowing Rock, NC, nephew, Tommy Cook of Hudson, NC and loyal "four-legged" companion and friend, Sweet Pea.
Memorial Services will be held at Coosa United Methodist Church, April 21, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Earl Bishop and Rev. Steve Midkiff officiating. Music will be provided by Earl and Idalu Bishop and James Stephens.
In Lieu of Flowers the Family requests that donations be made to the Union County Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
