Joseph Edward Hall, age 83 of Murphy, NC, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2007 at his home. Joe was born Wednesday, May 16, 1923 in Wise Co. VA to the late Joseph Lindsey Hall and the late Nellie Melissa Burk Hall. He was a foreman with Florida Power and Light in Daytona ,and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was a US Army WWII Veteran serving in the 781st Tank Battalion. He was a gem collector, loved to travel and go camping. He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Lindsey Hall who passed while serving in Vietnam.
Survivors include: wife, Lydia Ann Hall, sister, Bettie Davis of Disputanta, VA, sister, Billie Brinson of Virginia Beach, VA, several nieces, nephews and great nieces.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 3:00PM from the Hanging Dog Baptist Church with the Reverend Edward Carter, Reverend Rondale (Bo) Ford, officiating. Music will be provided by Amazing Graces Ladies Community Choir, Donna Allen, Lindsey Denny, Cecelia Shoemaker, Penny Miller and Shelia Phillips. Interment will follow in Hanging Dog Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: David Allen, Steve Allen, Mac Denny, Wayne Dockery, Kevin Laney and Harold Jones. Honorary pallbearers include: Robert Allen. Military graveside rites by Local Veterans organizations: Murphy VFW Post 10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post 96 and DAV Chapter 73 and Clay County VFW Post 6812
The family will receive friends at the church from 2-3, Tuesday, February 27.
