J. Carroll Ledbetter Sr., age 80, of Epworth, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021, at Fannin Regional Hospital. Carroll was born October 30, 1941, in Union, SC, to the late Lowell Ledbetter and Pearl Johnson Ledbetter. He had lived in this area for the past 29 years and was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he served as an elder and manager of the Adventist Radio Station. Along with his wife, Anita, they organized the Nativity Scene at the church for several years. In addition, he had served as a director with Pathfinders-Adventist Youth Ministries. Most of Carroll's working career was as Director of Laboratory with AdventHealth in several locations across the US and worked most recently at Gordon Hospital in Calhoun, Ga until his retirement. In addition, he served as a missionary for three years in Belem Hospital in Belem, Brazil, where he worked on mission boats traveling up and down the Amazon River and at the hospital. He was a multi-talented person who mastered many skills, including carpentry and electrical work. But his passion was his family, church, and writing poetry.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Ledbetter, mother, Pearl Johnson Ledbetter, brother, Danny Ledbetter.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Anita Blake Ledbetter, daughter, Darlene Williams, daughter, Charlie and son-in-law, Sean Eubanks, son Johnny, and daughter-in-law, Lori Ledbetter, sister, Shirley Clark, sixteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends also survive.
Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. December 12th, 2021 at the Fannin County Seventh-day Adventist Church in Morganton, GA.
