Johnny Royal Bates

Johnny Royal Bates, a loving family member, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at his home on September 5, 2023. He was born in Franklin, NC on October 16, 1958, to the late John and Mary Bates.

In his spare time, Johnny enjoyed simple pleasures such as visiting Walmart and going fishing. These activities brought him solace and allowed him to connect with nature. His love for the outdoors was reflected in the calmness he found while casting lines into still waters.

Mr. Bates was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his profession. Throughout his career, he exemplified loyalty and dedication to his colleagues.

Family meant the world to Johnny. He shared a special bond with his siblings: the late David Bates, Margie Lovingood, and Glen Bates. Johnny's love extended beyond his immediate family to include his nieces Rachel Edwards, Shelby Barnes, and Peggy Moreland; nephews Nick Bates, Justin Helton, and Thomas Bates; great-nephew Nathan Edwards; and great-niece Elizabeth Edwards. He cherished these relationships dearly and enjoyed creating lasting memories with each of them.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Coosa Methodist Church at 2:00 pm.
