John Terry Baker

John Terry Baker, age 75 of Hayesville, NC passed away August 14, 2018 surrounded by his wife and many family. Mr. Baker was born March 21, 1943 in Atlanta, GA to Fred James Baker and Mary Walker Baker. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Hayesville, NC. Terry loved the church and his church family. Terry was a carpenter by trade and was later employed by Brasstown Manor Assisted Living Facility for many years. In his role as maintenance supervisor, he learned to wear many different hats. He always took time to help those who resided there with a smile and a comforting word. When he had the time, he loved to hunt, fish, be outside (especially near the beach or lake) and most of all, he loved his family!

Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Mary Baker.

Family members left to share in his legacy are: wife, Vivian W. Baker; son, John Taylor (Leah) Baker of Pilot Mountain, NC; step children Lisa Ditmore and Joni (Zach) Clement; sister, Susan (John) Hendrix of Rose Hill, NC; aunt, Lucille Sewell; aunt, Marjorie Miller of Gainesville, GA; aunt, Martha Atkinson of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Hallie Ann Baker and (baby on the way) Polly JoAnn Baker; step grandchildren, Katelyn Denton, Victoria Winkler, Faith Winkler, and Jacob Patterson; two nieces, Ginny (Donald) Kelly of Yuma, AZ and Katie (Nathan) Willis of Newport, NC; and several cousins.

A memorial service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Phil Goble officiating. Special music was presented by Monica Baron. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 am until the service starts. Contributions can be made in memory of Terry to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund, Hayesville, NC.
