John "darrell" Raxter

John "Darrell" Raxter went home to be with his Lord and Savior early the afternoon of Saturday, January 23, 2010. Darrell died in his home surrounded by family and loved ones.
He was born in Cherokee County on October 27, 1954 and lived in Andrews all his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Andrews.
Darrell was preceded in death by his father, John William Raxter and his grandparents, Pink and Winnie Jones Lemming and Woody and Lola Sudderth Raxter. Darrell is survived in death by his wife of 36 years, Catherine Gunnels Raxter; his mother, Lucille Lemming Raxter; a daughter, Mary Raxter Millsaps and husband, Mike, of Robbinsville, NC; son, John Forrest Raxter and wife, Amanda, of Polkton, NC; two brothers, Ted Raxter and wife, Cricket, and Lane Raxter and wife, Marilyn, all of Andrews, NC and one grandson Ethan Wesley Wishon, whom he loved dearly
Darrell worked as mainteinence supervisor for Lee Company for 23 years amd leter. IOI for 7 years.
Darrell enjoyed spending time with his family, was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed reading.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 26, from 5:00 pm -6-30 pm at Andrews First Baptist Church. A meomorial service will follow at 6:30 pm. The memorial service will be conducted by a special friend of the deceased, Reverend Steve "Bibber" West..
