John Griggs

John Griggs, age 68, of Blue Ridge, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. Mr. Griggs was born October 24, 1949, in Charlotte, NC to the late Harold Maynard Griggs and the late Erna Lee Sanford Griggs. He was a member of Epworth First Baptist where he taught Sunday School, and he was a US Marine Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. He had been working as a substitute teacher and loved the interaction with the kids. He enjoyed reading, antique autos, trains, music and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include wife, Alice Griggs, sons, Joshua (Katrina) Griggs, Caleb (Ashlee) Griggs, and Noah Griggs, sisters, Elizabeth Petty, and Gale Ray, brothers, Maynard Griggs, Roy Griggs, Herman Griggs, and Tim Griggs, grandchildren, Tucker and Ellie Griggs.

Funeral services: Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 11:00 am Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.Dr.Chan Mitchell and Rev. Rubin Smith officiating. Music provided by Doug Simonds. Interment will follow in Epworth First Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: John Akin, Blake Pass, Danny Queen, Sid Bugg, Aubrey Thomas, and Jake Williams. Honorary pallbearers: James Carver, Kenneth Sitton, Epworth First Baptist Church Son Shine and Pastors Sunday School Class.
Military Honors by North Georgia Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the Finch Cochran Funeral Home Friday, December 15, 6:00- 9:00 PM.
