John William Goodin

Mr. John William Goodin, age 87, of Blue Ridge, Georgia passed away on August, 15, 2023, at his home.  He was born in Hephzibah, Georgia to John Barnum Goodin and Mildred Virginia Godowns Goodin. Mr. Goodin worked at Gracewood State School and Hospital as an Engineer with 45 years of service until his retirement. He was also a four year veteran of the US Navy. Johnny was a kind, loving, giving person that never met a stranger. He was also known as "Pop" Goodin and loved his family, friends, neighbors, his beautiful plants, trees, and his beloved wildlife. He enjoyed walking his trails in the woods and talking with the Lord with each and every step.   

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter; Jenny Lynn Goodin Hutto; brother, Calvin Emmett Goodin and brother in law, Jack Edwards. 

Mr. Goodin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Amelia McDade Goodin; children, Frances Kathleen Sessler and John Chester Goodin; sisters, Joyce Ann (Chris) Saulsberry and Sara Virginia Edwards; grandchildren, Shannon Lynn Odom, John Raymond Hutto, William Blount Goodin and Alison Marie Sessler; and great-grandchildren, Wesley Singletary and Grant Blount Goodin.  He is also survived by sister in laws; Barbara Goodin and Andria Faye Ashley and brother in law; Herman Allen McDade. 

No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
