John D Wright

Mr. John D. Wright, age 89, of Morganton, Georgia passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at his home.  Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his parents, Newton and Lattie Arp Wright, brother Billy Wright, Sister, Eleanor Davenport, Half-brother, Henry Wright, and Half-sisters,  Ethel Turner and Leslie Botts

Mr. Wright is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Wright of the home and his children, Glenda Dorneice (Stan) Awtrey, Keith D. (Caron) Wright, and Carrol Danette (Harold) Thompson.  Additional survivors include, brothers, Neil (Vendetta) Wright and Max (Shirley) Wright.  A sister in law, Betty Wright, also survives.  Grandchildren surviving include Jonathon (Rebecca) Wright, Christina (Micah) Flores, Kate (Dave) King, John Awtrey and Joe (Jennifer Hart) Thompson.  Additional Great-Grandchildren surviving include, Clara Flores, Camilla Flores, Jonah Flores, Skylar Wright, Jett Wright and Kaylin Anduze.  

Mr. Wright served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Wright retired from Atlanta Gas Light after more than 40 years of service.  He enjoyed gardening, outdoor activities, God's created nature and woodworking.  He was known for his good sense of humor and liked to pass along his knowledge to others.  

He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Friday, February 25, 2022, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.  A funeral service will follow the visitation at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel at 12 noon with Rev. Randy Hughes and the North Georgia Honor Guard officiating.  Interment will follow the funeral service in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Randy Hughes and final military rites provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

Pallbearers serving include: Joe Thompson, Jonathon Wright, John Awtrey, Micah Flores, Dave King and Bobby Norris.
