John Cochran

John Luther Cochran, 94, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, at his home in Blue Ridge, GA. John was born September 17, 1928, in Marietta, GA, to John Sr. and Viola Cochran, John was preceded in death by spouse, Hattie Cochran; father, John Cochran, Sr.; mother, Viola Cochran.

He is survived by his son Fred (Pam) Cochran; son Rick (Jane) Cochran; son Paul (Stacey) Cochran; grandchildren: David Cochran (Christy), Daniel Cochran (Tiffany), Tara Ragan(Corey), Holly Cochran, and Hope Henderson (Daniel); great-grandchildren: Gage Cochran, Caleb Ragan, Kasen Cochran, Rowan Cochran, Asher Cochran, and Willow Cochran.  

He was a long-time member and deacon of Blue Ridge First Baptist Church. John was well known in the community as the owner of Cochran Jewelry Store for many years.  John purchased the family business from his dad in 1968 and then sold it to his son Paul in 1991.  He was also involved in the community as a leader of the Blue Ridge Gideons and leader of the local Boy Scouts of America.  He led RAs at church as well as taught Sunday School for more than 73 years.  

He was an incredible artist, craftsman, and jeweler.  He loved to fish, garden, and work with his hands.  He was not afraid to tackle any task in building or repair of any kind.  He was a devoted husband who is joyfully holding Hattie in heaven now! John is thankfully with his Lord Jesus, who saved him and blessed him throughout his life.  He loved his family, friends, his church family, and will be greatly missed.  

The funeral service is on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Blue Ridge First Baptist Church with Pastor Rusty Thomas officiating. Music will be provided by the Blue Ridge First Baptist Church music ministry team.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers:  Fred Cochran, Paul Cochran, Rick Cochran, David Cochran, Daniel Cochran, Corey Ragan, Bradley Davis, Bruce Pack, and Jerry Ramsey.  Interment will follow in the Chastain Memorial Park in Blue Ridge, GA,30513.

The family will receive friends at Blue Ridge First Baptist Friday, June 16th, 2023, from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM.
