John Carl Green, 86, of Brasstown, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018, at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
Carl was born December 14, 1931, in Blairsville Georgia. He was a
member of First United Methodist Church of Murphy but had attended Little Brasstown Baptist Church for the last 22 years. He was a founding member and longtime supporter of the Brasstown Fire Dept. Carl enjoyed music and played his fiddle and mandolin with several local bands. He also
enjoyed working with heavy equipment but was most known for owning and
operating Green's Gulf Station in Brasstown for 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Willie, Robert, and Dale Green and two sisters, Julia Caylor and Vesta Dyer.
Survivors include his loving wife of forty years, Shirley Huskins Green,
one son, Jerry Green and wife Vicki of Brasstown, NC, their two sons,
Cody Green of Carrboro, NC and Corey Green of Waynesville, NC, one step-daughter, Tammy Smith and husband Richard and their three children,
Christina, Brad, and Amanda, also three great-grandchildren, all of Atlanta, Georgia.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 2nd from 6-8:30 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday, December 3rd at 2 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Aud Brown of Little Brasstown Church officiating with the help of Harold Stiles. Music provided by the Wilson Family.
The immediate family will be present for a graveside service with military honors. Military honors provided by the Murphy VFW Post 10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post 96, DAV Chapter 73, and Clay County VFW Post 6812.
