Joan Elizabeth Kennedy

Joan Elizabeth Kennedy, 86, of Murphy, NC passed away November 1, 2024. Joan was a patient at the Murphy Rehab and Nursing facility. She was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, on December 19, 1937. She was the only child of the late Paul and Victoria (Oneto) Kennedy.

During her life, Joan lived in various locations throughout the country: New Jersey, Oklahoma, Kansas, Florida; but longest in Murphy, North Carolina. She settled in Murphy, deciding it was the ideal place for her retirement. After college, Joan taught elementary school for a short time and then left to pursue other interests.

Joan was a giving person, donating to many charities during her lifetime. Joan was devout in her faith. She was a member of St. William RC Church in Murphy, participating in the church choir and many activities of the church, notably the Visiting Ministries. She is survived by her cousins and many devoted friends.

She loved all animals; but particularly the many dogs, (especially Scotties) that she owned throughout her life.

A Mass and service will be held on Friday, December 13th, at 11:00 AM at St. William RC Church, 765 Andrew's Rd, Murphy NC
