James "Jimmy" Crawford Woodyard, age 88, of Mineral Bluff, GA, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, GA. He was born in Hampton, GA, and grew up in LaGrange, GA where he graduated from LaGrange High School. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army from 1952 -1955. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Albany State University. He was of the Baptist faith.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Henry T. Woodyard, Sr. and Estelle Lanier Woodyard, brother, Henry T. Woodyard, Jr., and sister, Estelle Woodyard Redhouse. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie Marlowe Woodyard, and one daughter, Kathryn "Kitty" Woodyard of Albany, GA, three nephews: Henry Woodyard, Richard Woodyard (Jan), and William Woodyard (Sherri); and one niece, Cherie Funderburk.
As a youth Jimmy was an Eagle Scout, served on the staff of the Philmont Scout Ranch BSA and was a member of Philmont Staff Association. He began his banking career with Citizens & Southern National Bank in Lagrange, GA, before being transferred to Albany, GA. It was from there that he retired in 1989. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Mineral Bluff, GA.
A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 11:00 am at Shadowlawn Cemetery in Lagrange, GA with Pastor Charlie Bridges officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home in Blue Ridge, GA, Wednesday, October 5, 2022, from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm and at Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter-Allen-Myhand in Lagrange, GA, Friday, October 7, 2022, from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm.
