The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. James "Jimmy" Everett, age 69, of Blairsville who passed away on Wednesday morning, April 3, 2013 at his home.
Jim was born and raised in Union County, and was the son of the late Glenn and the late Ethel Everett. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Everett. Jim attended Union County High School, and was on the very first football team. Jim played basketball, baseball, football, and ran track. He was an avid sports fan and loved to watch his grandchildren play ball. Jim also loved horses and was a founding member of the Union County Saddle Club. Driving his wagon and camping were activities that he enjoyed, along with hunting and fishing. For many years, Jim was a brick and stone mason, and worked in the construction business before he retired. Jim was a member of Providence United Methodist Church.
Jim leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory: loving wife of 49 years, Patricia Davis Everett; a son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Angie Everett; and a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Clyde Carroll. He is also survived by four grandchildren that he loved very much: Dalton, Lane, Clay and Maci. Jim was a wonderful husband, loving father, father-in-law, and granddaddy. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
Funeral Services for Jimmy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville. The family has selected the following gentlemen to serve as pallbearers: Charles Murphy, Bud Murphy, Rex Patton, Curtis Young, Kermit Chambers, and Larry Chambers. Burial will be in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blairsville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 until 9 pm.
Flowers are being welcomed; however, if you wish to do so, memorial contributions may be made to Union County Dialysis Center in Blairsville.
