Jewell Penland, age 78 of Hayesville, NC, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Clay County Care Center.
Jewell was born Friday, April 22, 1929 in Clay County, NC to the late William Edward Penland and the late Eliza Garrett Penland. He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by brother, J.D. Penland, sisters, Nannie Bue Penland, Mary Bee Penland and Helen Penland.
Survivors include: sister, Lucretia Shook of Cumming, Ga, sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Bill Mountain of McDonough, GA, 2 nieces and 9 nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 1, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. from the Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Shook and Rev. Charlie Bowen officiating. Music will be provided by Claude Hunter Family and Melba Blythe. Interment will follow in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Dennis Penland, Gene Penland, David Penland, Dale Penland, Dwight Penland and Kelsey Nicholson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Sunday, September 30.
