Jere Kaylor Young made his trip to eternity on September 27, 2024, and is now absent from the body and present with the Lord. Jere was an adoring husband to his wife of 53 years, Christa Garner Young.
He was a father who loved to spend time with his sons, Jonathan & Stephen, and daughter Stephanie. He cherished memories with each of them and found great joy in the birth of his grandchildren, Josie Grace Young and Jake Adam Young. Jere was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Toletha and Kenneth Young, on March 8, 1940. After graduating Southside High School in 1958, he attended Indiana University and received his law degree. Upon deciding to move to Fort Lauderdale to practice in the Sunshine State, he met his future wife, Christa and they married in 1971. After twenty years in Florida, the family moved to Highlands, NC, and enjoyed mountain life for the next ten years. The next move was to Colorado Springs for 20 years, until the North Georiga Mountains became their home. Jere's greatest joy was his service to the Lord after becoming a Christian in 1970 through the ministry of D. James Kennedy. He was a founding member of Evangelism Explosion International and a board member of many ministries that found his advice and counsel of great value. Heaven held a celebration upon his arrival with so many family and friends who went before him.
Jere is survived by his wife, Christa Young; children, Jonathan (Dana) Young; and grandchildren, Josie Grace and Jake Adam Young, Stephen (Rachel) Young of Blairsville, GA, and Stephanie Young of Asheville, NC; Mother-in-law, Kathryn Garner; and brother-in-law Gerald Garner of Blairsville, GA.
Memorial Service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church on October 22, 2024, at 6:30 pm.
