Jerald Shields

Jerald Haden Shields, 68, of Murphy, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024.   Jerald was born July 19, 1955, in Blue Ridge, GA to Haden and Edna Arp Shields.  Jerald was preceded in death by father, Haden Shields.  

He is survived by his mother, Edna Shields; his brothers; Tom (Lisa) Shields of Murphy, NC, and, Tim Shields of Jasper, Georgia; nephew, T.J. Shields; niece, Tori Elrod; niece, Amber Shields; nephew, Aaron (Haley) Shields; and niece, Christina (Clay) Worley.  

Jearld had a big heart and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  He was an avid Braves and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed people and was a friend to all he met. He was one of the original employees of IOI and enjoyed a long career there.  Jerald also worked at Badcock Home Furnishings.  He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Murphy, North Carolina. 

Funeral Service, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Ware and Rev. Ricky Lance officiating. Music by the Andy Ware Family.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, T.J. Shields, Noah Shields, Aaron Shields, Ronnie Lingerfelt, Brian Kilpatrick, and James Shope.

Interment will follow at Mount Plesant Baptist Church Cemetery, Murphy, North Carolina.

The family will receive friends at Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy on Tuesday, 14th of May, 2024 from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM.
