Jean Stanifer

Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mrs. Jean Rector Stanifer, 92, of Blairsville, who passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.

Mrs. Stanifer was born in Meadowview, Virginia, a daughter of the late Carl Lee and the late Lucy Johnson Rector. Mrs. Stanifer was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Sullivan Gardens Baptist Church in Tennessee. She had lived in Blairsville during the past 20 years. Mrs. Stanifer will be fondly remembered as a loving and giving person, always eager to help someone else in need and for how she loved her family. She and her husband owned and operated a 5 & 10 cent store in Norcross, Georgia for many years. Besides her parents, Mrs. Stanifer had been preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; daughter, Joyce Stanifer; sisters: Grace McNew and Carolyn Caudell; and brother, J.B. Rector.

Loving family members include: daughter and son-in-law, Myrta and W.H. McCarter, of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Scotty and Adela Stanifer, of Blairsville; and daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Gerald Wellman, of Flushing, Michigan; sister, Virginia Lee Ferris, of Chilhowie, Virginia; grandchildren: Jessica Friedman, Bill McCarter, Jeff McCarter, Nicole Wellman, and Kristine Johnson; 9 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 3:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Gary Rogers officiating. Entombment will be in Peachtree Memorial Gardens in Norcross. Visitation will be held also on Saturday, starting at 2:00 p.m. - one hour before the funeral service.
