Jean K. Hattaway

Jean K. Hattaway, age 100, of Hiawassee, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022, at her home in Hiawassee. Jean was born July 3, 1922, in Newville, AL, to the late Claude Kirkland and Carolyn Westmoreland Kirkland.  

Jean and her husband, Elmer,  had moved to Hiawassee 29 years ago to make the North Georgia Mountains their home till his death in 2001.

She was a member of McConnell Baptist Church; and enjoyed gardening, working outside, sewing, traveling, and hanging out with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Elmer Hattaway;  brothers, Julian Kirkland; and Don Kirkland; son-in-law, Tom Daniel; grandson, William Rahn.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Patsy Jean Daniel and Shirley (Ward) Woolley; Jean is also survived by her grandchildren Lynne Stokkeland and Brenda Bryant, 
several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Monday, August 15, 11:00 AM, from Osborn Cemetery, with Pastor Danny Byers officiating.
