Jay ""Buddy"" Harkins

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Jay Harold "Buddy" Harkins, age 62, of Blairsville, who passed away suddenly on Friday, July 25, 2013 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Jay, who was known to friends and family as "Buddy", was born in Perry, Georgia, on November 13, 1950, a son of Sara Margaret Harkins and the late John Harold Harkins. He had lived in Blairsville for most of his life, and was of the Baptist faith. One of Buddy's favorite things was to watch preaching on television. He had several favorites.

Buddy was dearly loved in life, and will be missed so much by his family members: mother, Sara Margaret Harkins, of Blairsville; sister and brother-in-law, Johnita and Carl Gene Gay, of Jupiter, Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Charlie Gregory, of Blairsville; sister and brother-in-law, Jana and Robby McClure, of Hiawassee, Georgia, and sister and brother-in-law, Jessica and James Buchanan, of Blairsville. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives are also surviving.

Funeral services for Buddy have been scheduled for Sunday, July 28, 2013, at 3:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville. The family will meet with friends on the same day of the services, Sunday, between the hours on 1:00 p.m., until 3:00 p.m.
