Mr. Jarold "Pete" Kenneth Mauldin, age 86, of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away on April 16, 2024. A lifelong resident of Hiawassee, he was born on April 2, 1938 in Hiawassee, Georgia, to the late Earl and Mary Wilson Mauldin. Mr. Mauldin worked with the U.S Forestry Service as a Civil Culture Engineer with vast experience in all areas of Forestry Conservation.
He was of the Christian faith and the Baptist denomination. Jarold had a deep love for God's created nature. He enjoyed spending countless hours hiking, farming and gardening. For many years, he raised cattle. Mr. Mauldin loved and was devoted to his family, neighbors and community at large. Jarold Mauldin truly followed the Biblical proverb, "Whatever thy hand finds to do, do it with all thy might."
He is survived by his loving and devoted spouse, Margie Taylor Mauldin; children, Lorie (Joe) Couch and Sherry (Robert) Puckett; grandchildren, Joshua Puckett and Regan Puckett and great grandchild, Ransom Puckett; siblings Nell Sloan and Betty Allison; numerous nephews and nieces also survive, along with many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Mary Wilson Mauldin; siblings Horace Mauldin, Ronald Mauldin, Donald Mauldin, Hazel Abernathy, Max Mauldin, and Darold Mauldin.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 19, 2024 at 11am at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Hiawassee, Georgia with Rev. Anthony Dye and Rev. Robert Puckett officiating. Music will be provided by Kathy Dills and Mount Zion Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow the service in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Military honors will be presented at the graveside service immediately following the minister's committal service. The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Joshua Puckett, Leo Abernathy, Doug Chambers, Kerry Dills, Dwight Wilson and Edwin Underwood.
The family of Mr. Mauldin will be receiving friends at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Hiawassee, Georgia, from 10am until the 11am funeral service hour Friday, April 19, 2024.
