Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces the death of Mrs. Janice Sparks Jarrard, age 87, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away on Thursday, May 6th, 2021 in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
Mrs. Jarrard was born in Hemp, Georgia, a daughter of the late Ralph Sparks and the late Jessie Mary Van Nichols Sparks. She was a retired hair stylist, and a member of First United Methodist Church of Union County. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Jarrard; sisters: Elga Burrell, Ramona Harper, Lagree Lawson, and Janet Deaver; brothers: Clarence Sparks, Buel Sparks, Edison Sparks, and Mercier Sparks. Mrs. Jarrard enjoyed playing bridge and needlepoint.
Surviving family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Carlton and Cindi Sparks; daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Robert Tharpe; sister, Neva Jahnz; granddaughter and her husband, Carli and Derek Sanders; grandson and his wife, Andrew and Meredith Sparks; grandson and his wife, Jeffery and Courtney Jarrard; grandson and his wife, Roger and Kayla Jarrard; grandson and his wife, Derek and Elizabeth Mitchell; grandson and his wife, Corey and Jennifer Mitchell; great grandchildren: Carder Sanders, Genevieve Sparks, Bally, Emily, and Brooke Jarrard, and Raygan Russell; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., to be held at First United Methodist Church of Union County. Visitation with the family will be held for one hour before the service begins.
The family of Mrs. Jarrard wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Blue Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care for her care during her residence there and through her illness, and to Pruitt Hospice for their comfort and care during her illness.
