Janet Lane Pitts

Devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Aunt, Janet Pitts, passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 8, at the age of 103.

Janet was a woman of great faith, who cherished her family and her little dogs. Her sharp mind remained vibrant throughout her life, effortlessly transitioning from stories of her childhood in Blakely, Georgia, and living through the Depression, to recounting the many adventures of her family over the decades. It was always evident how much family meant to her. A retiree from Delta Airlines, she traveled the world-whether it was a trip to Maine for lobster, shopping in England, or exploring the Holy Land-she loved experiencing new places. Throughout her life, Janet enjoyed telling stories and spending time with loved ones, always ready to laugh and up for a bit of fun. She had the most beautiful smile and a mischievous sparkle in her eye. In her quiet moments, she found peace in gardening, caring for her home, or sipping a cup of coffee on the porch with her little dogs in her lap, watching the birds come and go.

Janet is survived by her son, Hugh Pitts; six grandchildren: Phoebe (Scott) Harrell, Chris (Keri) Pitts, Sarah (Kelley) Davenport, Nikki (Cres) Ferrell, Jacob Pitts, and Skyler Pitts; and eight great-grandchildren: Charlie (Lea), Charlotte, Hannah, Lilly, Lane, Lucy, Chloe, and Max. Janet was predeceased by her husband, Maurice Pitts, and sons, Wayne and Alan Pitts.

Funeral arrangements will be handled by Cochran McDaniel Funeral Home in Blue Ridge. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2024 from 10 am to 12 pm. Interment and a graveside service will take place at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Fairburn on Thursday, February 13, at 3:00 PM.
