Jane Hunter Henson

Jane H. Henson, age 72, passed away on Sunday, January 28 2024 in the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.  Mrs. Henson was born to the late William Claude Hunter and Lula Mae Nicholson Hunter on August 11, 1951.  She was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister Phyllis Hunter.

Jane attended Old Union Baptist Church in Young Harris, Georgia. There she enjoyed singing praise to her Lord. She also enjoyed singing and playing the piano in church throughout her life. Singing Gospel music was a joy and she always enjoyed listening to others sing Gospel music as well. She was dedicated to her work at Blue Ridge Mountain EMC for over 50 years and worked many of those years as the accounting manager.  At home, Jane found solace and pleasure in tending to her flowers in her yard which were always tended with care.  For Jane, spoiling her grand kids went beyond measure.

Mrs. Henson is survived by her two children; Chris Henson and Traci (Will) Thurman; Sisters, Celia (Larry) Baxter, Carolyn Odell, Deborah Ballentine, Lynda Garmon, June (Roger) Krueger and Sherri (Tim) McClure; Brothers, Anthony "Speed" (Ruby) Hunter and Alden (Mattie) Hunter. Grandchildren; Kristen Brooke Henson, Kennedi Eve Henson, William Cash Henson, Sydney Thurman, and John Thurman.  Many other nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 2:00 pm,  from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, 177 Rice Street, Hiawassee, Georgia.  Interment will follow the funeral service in the Lower Bell Baptist Church Cemetery in Hiawassee, Georgia.

The family will be receiving friends in a time of visitation on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 5pm to 8pm at the Cochran Funeral Home in Hiawassee, Georgia.
