Jane Davidson Lorenz

Barbara Jane Davidson Lorenz, age 70 passed away Saturday, September 20, 2008 after a brief illness, at her home. Born May 18, 1938 in Heflin Ala. she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Myrtle Brown Davidson and the wife of the late Edward G. Lorenz who died in 2005.

She worked at Fort McClelland Army Base in Anniston, Al., then the Social Security Administration in Orlando, Fl. until she retires in 1990. She and her husband, Ed moved to Murphy to retire in 1991. She moved to Andrews in 19999 and became very active in many things in the community. She was the President of the Ladies Guild at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the secretary of the Valley River Civitan Cllub, and "Nana" to most everyone in town. She loved craft making, sewing, working in her greenhouse, going to yard sales & thrift stores and was always there to assist anyone in need.

She is survived by a brother, Thomas Edward (Bud) Davidson and wife Polly heflin, Al; two daughters Gayle Horton &husband Philip of Andrews, NC and Freda Elchos&husband Monnie of Kiln, MS; one son, Bruce McNutt of Pensacola, Fl; six grandchildren, Conner, Andrew, and Savannah Horton; Olympia Elchos; Brian & Katie McNutt, and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Friday, September 26th, 2008 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Andrews. Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Carl Kaltreide and Father Michael Kottar at 1:00pm on Friday, September 26th, 2008 at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Andrews, Interment will be at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC at a later date.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Memory of Jane D. Lorenz to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1151, Murphy, NC 28906 or Good Shepherd Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 465, Hayesville, NC 28904.
