James William "jim" Mcclure

The Finch-Cochran Funeral Home announces the death and funeral services of Mr. James William ?Jim? McClure, age 88, of Epworth, Georgia, who passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at the V.A. Medical Center of Atlanta.

Mr. McClure served in the U.S. Army Air Force for three years spending most of his time in Europe. After the war he moved to Baltimore then to Wilmington, DE in 1951. He received his electrical and plumbing license, and he had been self-employed since. In 1953 he also received his heating and air conditioning, sheet metal, duct work, and gas piping license. He moved back home in March of 1978, to be with his brother and has been here ever since. He joined the First Baptist Church in Epworth in July of 1936, where he was still a member.

Mr. McClure was preceded in death by his wife, Stella McClure; parents, Mr. & Mrs. J. B. McClure; and brothers Gene, and Glen McClure.

Survivors include: his dearest friend, and love for over thirty years, Nellie Griggs; son, Jimmy McClure of DE; daughter, Nancy Marvian of DE; brothers, John McClure of CA, and Clinton Lee McClure of HI; sisters, Nancy Eolliott of Blue Ridge, Mary Jones of VA; grandchildren, Nicholas, Nicole and Crystal Marvian, and Sarah and Caleb Owenby; special niece and nephew, Brenda and Vernon Owenby, and a host of fine nieces and nephews and several other family members and friends.

Funeral Service will be held, Friday, January 15, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. from the First Baptist Church of Epworth, with Dr. Tom Jordan officiating and music will be provided by Rev. Doug Simonds, Mike Rhinehart and Vernon Owenby. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert McClure, Christy McClure, Terry McClure, Johnny McClure, Lee McClure, and Larry Pelfrey. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. McClure?s Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be Thursday Evening, January 14, 2010 starting at 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home.
