James Marvin Whyte, age 68 of Murphy, NC, formerly of Montgomery City, MO., passed away Friday, May 01, 2009 at his residence. Whyte was a native of Montgomery County, MO. Born Friday, May 31, 1940 to the late Marvin and Frances Cunningham Whyte. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin & Frances Whyte, brother, John A. Whyte, nephew, Mark Whyte and his brother-in-law, Stanley Engelbrecht.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Patricia A. Whyte of Murphy, NC; sons & their wives, Randal & Sandra Whyte of Montgomery City, Craig & Aleen Whyte of Robbinsville, NC, Bradley & Patricia Whyte of Blue Ridge, GA; sister, Mary Engelbrecht of Bellflower, Mo, brother, Thomas Whyte of Calif.; grandchildren, Jessica & Joshua Whyte of Montgomery City, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Whyte was a butcher for most of his working years, ending up as a door greeter for Wal-Mart in Murphy, NC, which he loved. He loved working, although he had to retire because of his eyesight. Throughout his life he was the City Marshall for Bellflower, MO., a scout master, and a member of the National Gaurd.
He was loved dearly by all of his family and friends and he never knew a stranger.
