Mr. James Ray Duvall, age 85, of Mineral Bluff, GA, passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at his home. Mr. Duvall was born in Swain County, NC to Joseph Edgar Duvall and Louisa Hall Duvall. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, wood working, and reading. He served as a Sergeant in the US Army serving in WW II and Korea receiving two Purple Hearts during his time of service, which was 5 years 5 months and 5 days. Ray was preceded in death by father, Joseph Edgar Duvall, mother, Louisa Hall Duvall, brother, Roy Duvall, and sister, Dorothy Ballew.
Survivors include: wife, Colene Duvall, son, Charles Duvall, daughter & son-in-law, Becky & Zack Ratcliff, son & daughter-in-law, Wesley & Jammia Duvall, sister, Lounell Hampton, sister, Jeanette Bell, sister & brother-in-law, Doris & Joe Pelfrey, sister & brother-in-law, Marie & Harold Tarpley, brother & sister-in-law, Max & Jean Duvall, brother, M.G. Duvall, grandson & wife, Brian & Katie Duvall, granddaughter, Tiffany Renee Duvall, and sister-in-law, Polly Duvall.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Funeral services: Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 11:00 AM from the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Roger Beck officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Greg Norton. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Cherokee, NC. Pallbearers: Brian Duvall, Michael Head, Sammy Stanley, Andy Duvall, Ronald Newton, and Doug Duvall. Honorary pallbearers: Katie Duvall, Tiffany Duvall, Jessica Bull, and Samantha Hill.
