James R. "Randy" Lance

Mr. James R. "Randy" Lance, known to many as "Slim" , age 41 of Morganton, passed away June 2, 2013 at his home. Slim was born May 9, 1972 in Cleveland, TN to Larry & Barbara Lance. A member of the Morganton Baptist Church, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hughes. Slim enjoyed throwing horseshoes, Lucky Charms & Mountain Dew, playing his guitar and when he was younger, riding his motorcycle. Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include: daughter, Katrina Sue Hope Lance, father, Larry Lance of Blue Ridge, mother, Ms. Barbara Hughes Lance of Morganton, grandfather, Orvin Lance, grandmother, Louise Lance, sister & brother-in-law, Tanya & DJ Davenport, nephew, Hunter Davenport, niece, Hannah Davenport, and nephew, Dawson Davenport.

Funeral services are planned for Friday, June 7, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Eric Davenport & Rev. Tony Vecchio officiating. Music provided by Daryn Bennett. Interment will follow in the Morganton Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Alton Towe officiating. Pallbearers include Sam Elliot, Charles Fish, Hunter Davenport, Chris Hedden, Kevin Lance, and James Chambers.

The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Friday, June 7, 2013 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations be sent in honor of Mr. Lance to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org and the Gideons International at www.gideons.org.
