Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces the death of Mr. James "Jim" H. Hoyt II, age 83, of Blairsville, who passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012.
Mr. Hoyt was born in Tappan, New York on March 16, 1929 to the late James & Violet Smith Hoyt. Jim was a Army Veteran of the Korean War. He served as a police officer for Clarkstown Police Department in New York for 23 years until his retirement. Jim held a level of pride for his homes appearance. He made sure that his lawn was in pristine condition. He was quite competitive when it came to games and was known to be very thrifty due to growing up during the depression. Jim recently found a love for reading especially detective genres. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth Hoyt.
Jim will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family: loving wife of 19 years, Bette Hoyt of Blairsville; step-daughters and their husbands, Terrell & Hal Shortsleeve, Kim & William Labarge; step-daughter, Jay Blair Boyd; and sisters, Doris Heilfurth and Barbara Kalstad.
No memorial services are planned at this time.
