James Benjamin Mackey

James Benjamin Mackey, 88, of Mineral Bluff, GA, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Piedmont Mountainside in Jasper, GA. James was born August 1, 1933, in Breckenridge, MO to James Mackey and Helen Mackey.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Mackey; mother, Helen Mackey; and step-daughter, Elizabeth Godwin.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Mackey, daughters Susan Mackey and Debra (Vick) Wilfong, step-sons, Tyrus Matthew Ragan and Jimmy Orren Ragan, brother Joe Mackey, nephews David Mackey and Jim Mackey, niece Cathy Mackey McMorrow, and five grandchildren.

He was a 1956 graduate of the Naval Academy and then served four years in US Air Force. Following his service, Ben worked for Owens Corning, The Coca-Cola Company, and Townsends Inc. After retirement he spent his time with his wife of 42 years living in the Blue Ridge Mountains and supporting his favorite baseball team, The Atlanta Braves.

He dearly loved his family and his church, Blue Ridge United Methodist. 

Memorial Service: Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 2:00 pm from the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church in Blue Ridge, GA. Military Honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
